For several years in a row, the list was headed by Game of Thrones<\/a>, but that reign came to an after the final season.<\/p>\n

In the years that followed, Disney+ releases stepped in to fill the void, with \u2018Wandavision\u2019 and \u2018The Mandalorian\u2019 taking wins in 2020 and 2021 respectively. This takeover didn\u2019t last very long, however, as HBO Max\u2019s \u2018Game of Thrones\u2019 prequel \u2018House of the Dragon\u2019 snatched the title in 2022<\/a>. <\/p>\n

With no dragon-themed series in the mix, HBO\u2019s post-apocalyptic drama \u2018The Last of Us\u2019 snatched the title last year<\/a>. That change didn\u2019t last, however, as the Dragons came out on top again this year. <\/p>\n

While \u2018House of the Dragon\u2019 faced stiff competition from \u2018Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power\u2019 two years ago, it easily secured the top spot this year. Surprisingly, Amazon\u2019s Tolkien-inspired series barely cracked the top 10.<\/p>\n

Amazon did get an entry in the top three with The Boys in second place, followed by Disney\u2019s historical drama series Sh\u014dgun. <\/p>\n

Interestingly, all other entries in the top 10, including Netflix\u2019s massively popular animated series Arcane, come from major streaming platforms. This marks a shift from last year when no Netflix shows made the list. <\/p>\n

Last year, we theorized that, as the leading streaming service, Netflix was less susceptible to \u2018complementary\u2019 piracy<\/a> than its competitors. That argument may still hold, but Netflix certainly isn\u2019t immune to it.<\/p>\n

In closing, we should note that the chart is based on BitTorrent traffic, which represents a small portion of the piracy landscape. Most people use streaming sites and services nowadays, which generally do not report viewing stats. <\/p>\n
