Despite never having set foot in the United States, the outcome of the election had become increasingly important<\/a>. <\/p>\n A Trump win would not only represent defeat for Dotcom nemesis Joe Biden, but also a slither of hope that his extradition to the United States<\/a> wouldn\u2019t necessarily be seen as a foregone conclusion by the Republicans.<\/p>\n As Dotcom became increasingly confident of a Trump win and excitement continued to build, in his own inimitable style, Dotcom decided to call it.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n In the hours that followed, Dotcom celebrated Trump\u2019s win, the rising value of Bitcoin, Biden\u2019s demise, the apparent forthcoming demise<\/a> of leaders in Europe. Only then did he sign off.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n After that November 6 post, Dotcom\u2019s account fell silent for the next three weeks.<\/p>\n On Monday, a post made in Dotcom\u2019s name but most likely not by him personally, revealed that Dotcom had been hospitalized.<\/p>\n \u201cUPDATE: I am recovering from a serious stroke. I have the best health professionals helping me to make a recovery. I will be back as soon as I can. Please be patient and pray for my family and I,\u201d it reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to NZ Herald<\/a>, Dotcom suffered a stroke on November 7 and was taken to a local hospital. From there he was rushed to Dunedin Hospital for urgent treatment and remained there for more than two weeks. He\u2019s now said to have been moved to a different hospital where his rehabilitation will continue.<\/p>\n Dotcom\u2019s lawyer Ron Mansfield KC predicted that Dotcom is likely to remain in hospital for some time.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been very serious and we honestly did not know whether he would survive or what that looks like and we still don\u2019t,\u201d Mansfield told NZ Herald.<\/p>\n \u201cVery little is known by us. We\u2019re waiting for reports to come through, but we\u2019re just taking everything day by day at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n When reached by Newsweek, Dotcom\u2019s US lawyer, Ira Rothken, confirmed the accuracy of the statement posted to X but declined to provide additional information. Rothken wouldn\u2019t or couldn\u2019t say whether Dotcom himself published the statement but during the last few hours, the question was answered by Dotcom\u2019s New Zealand lawyer, Ron Mansfield KC.<\/p>\n \u201cKim\u2019s health prevents him from communicating effectively,\u201d Mansfield said<\/a>. \u201cLiz, his wife, is with him and she released the tweet.\u201d<\/p>\n Mansfield said that further recovery \u201cis likely\u201d but what recovery will look like is currently unknown.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously we\u2019re shocked by what\u2019s happened.
