President Joe Biden was criticized on social media Monday for stating over the weekend that the U.S. economy is \u201cstrong as hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding to a reporter\u2019s question Saturday about whether he had any worry about the strength of the U.S. dollar amid rising inflation, Biden replied while eating ice cream at a Baskin-Robbins in Portland, Oregon:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not concerned about the strength of the dollar. I\u2019m concerned about the rest of the world. Our economy is strong as hell.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cInflation is worldwide. It\u2019s worse off than it is in the United States,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo the problem is the lack of economic growth and sound policy in other countries, not so much ours.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many people took to Twitter to disagree with Biden, reminding the president that many Americans are struggling. Some people tweeted, \u201creality says otherwise,\u201d pointing out that the S&P 500 is down more than 25% so far this year.<\/p>\n

Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) tweeted that in reality \u201c65% of Americans say the economy is getting worse.\u201d Ronna McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee, referenced a recent CNN poll stating that 78% of Americans say the economy is \u201cpoor.\u201d A U.S. House candidate from Texas, Wesley Hunt, tweeted a list of items that have gone up in price, including fuel, airline fares, eggs, gas, and food.<\/p>\n

Commenting on Biden\u2019s remark that the U.S. economy is \u201cstrong as hell,\u201d former Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli opined: \u201cIt\u2019s totally not valid, it\u2019s not correct, it\u2019s a misstatement \u2026 and it is luring our people into complacency \u2026 We are suffering out there \u2026 We gotta start seeing the world the way it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

White House Claims Biden \u2018Has Done the Work\u2019 to Fix Inflation Issue<\/h2>\n

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reportedly stated<\/a> during Monday\u2019s press briefing at the White House that President Biden has \u201cdone the work\u201d to fix the inflation issue. Responding to a reporter\u2019s question, she said:<\/p>\n

The president understands \u2026 that inflation is an issue, high costs is an issue for the American people, and so he\u2019s been very clear about making that his number one economic priority. And he has done the work.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
