JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has shared his predictions for the U.S. economy, including a chance of \u201csomething worse\u201d than a recession. \u201cThere are storm clouds,\u201d the executive said, citing interest rates, QT, oil, Ukraine, war, and China.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n

\nJPMorgan\u2019s chairman and chief executive officer, Jamie Dimon, reportedly shared his predictions about where the U.S. economy is headed during a client call last week, Yahoo Finance reported Saturday.<\/p>\n

While noting that the U.S. economy is strong, with consumers\u2019 balance sheets and businesses in good shape, the executive emphasized that \u201cyou have to think differently\u201d when forecasting. The JPMorgan chief described: \u201cWhat is out there? There are storm clouds. Rates, QT, oil, Ukraine, war, China.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dimon shared: \u201cIf I had to put odds: soft landing 10%. Harder landing, mild recession, 20%, 30%.\u201d He added:\n<\/p>\n

Harder recession, 20%, 30%. And maybe something worse at 20% to 30%.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n\u201cIt is a bad mistake to say \u2018here is my single point forecast,’\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n

His predictions echoed what he said in June when he warned that an economic hurricane<\/a> is \u201ccoming our way.\u201d He advised investors to brace themselves.<\/p>\n

While Dimon sees a possibility of something worse than a recession, he stressed during a recent visit to JPMorgan Chase\u2019s Olneyville bank branch: \u201cWhatever the future brings, JPMorgan is prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n

Various analysts have predicted that the U.S. economy could be in a recession this year. Bank of America\u2019s head of U.S. economics, Michael Gapen, told Fox Business Monday that there is a high chance of a mild recession this year. He expects the Federal Reserve to inadvertently trigger a downturn with its war on inflation. \u201cThis cycle probably ends in a mild downturn \u2026 How do I come to that? It\u2019s basically just history. It\u2019s really hard to achieve a soft landing,\u201d the analyst opined.<\/p>\n

Goldman Sachs\u2019 economist David Mericle detailed in a client note Sunday: \u201cOur broad conclusion is that there is a feasible but difficult path to a soft landing, though several factors beyond the Fed\u2019s control can ease or complicate that path and raise or lower the odds of success.\u201d<\/p>\n
