Tesla CEO Elon Musk has suggested integrating crypto payments into Twitter. \u201cMy goal would be to maximize the usefulness of the service,\u201d he told Twitter\u2019s employees in his first all-hands meeting with them.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk, who may become the new owner of Twitter Inc., had his first all-hands meeting with Twitter\u2019s employees Thursday.<\/p>\n Musk answered many questions about how he plans to run the social media company if his bid to buy Twitter is successful. However, the $44 billion deal is currently on hold<\/a>, and Musk has accused<\/a> Twitter of a material breach of the merger agreement.<\/p>\n During the meeting, Musk mentioned crypto a few times, according to a leaked transcript of the meeting and a leaked video posted by Project Veritas.<\/p>\n Leslie Berland, Twitter\u2019s chief marketing officer, asked Musk: \u201cCan you talk a little bit about Twitter and payments?\u201d<\/p>\n The Tesla boss began by stating that \u201cmoney is essentially a form of information,\u201d adding that it is \u201cfundamentally digital.\u201d He added:<\/p>\n I think it would make sense to integrate payments into Twitter so that it\u2019s easy to send money back and forth, and fiat currency as well as crypto \u2014 essentially, whatever somebody would find useful.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cSo my goal would be to maximize the usefulness of the service \u2014 the more useful it is, the better. And if one can use it to make convenient payments, that\u2019s an increase in usefulness,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n Berland also asked Musk about some problems he sees with Twitter. The Tesla CEO replied:<\/p>\n There\u2019s definitely an ongoing challenge with Twitter with bot accounts and spam accounts. There\u2019s quite a lot of crypto scams on Twitter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cIt\u2019s gotten better, but there\u2019s still a fair bit of that,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere are also people where they\u2019re not necessarily bots, but they might be operating. You know, one person\u2019s operating hundreds of accounts and trying to make them look like individuals, but they\u2019re not.\u201d<\/p>\n Musk previously said that the spam bot is the single most annoying problem<\/a> on Twitter and he vowed to defeat it<\/a> \u201cor die trying,\u201d if his bid to buy the social media platform succeeds.<\/p>\n Musk further explained to Twitter\u2019s employees: \u201cI think it\u2019s extremely important that there be transparency. So that\u2019s why I\u2019m an advocate of having the algorithm be open source so that people can critique it, improve it, identify bugs, potentially, or bias.\u201d<\/p>\n Noting that \u201ctransparency obviously increases trust,\u201d the Spacex boss emphasized:<\/p>\n I think that trust is extremely important, and then just the usefulness of the system \u2014 getting rid of sort of troll farms and bots and spam is incredibly important.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Regarding free speech, Musk said: \u201cI think it\u2019s essential to have free speech and to be able to communicate freely \u2026 It\u2019s free speech within the context of the law.
