Meta Inc., formerly Facebook, has filed eight trademark applications relating to a wide range of crypto services and the metaverse. They include cryptocurrencies, crypto trading, blockchain software, crypto wallets, and crypto exchanges.

Meta\u2019s Trademark Filings Cover a Range of Crypto Services and the Metaverse<\/h2>\n

Facebook owner Meta has filed eight new trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its logo covering a range of crypto-related products and services.<\/p>\n

A USPTO-licensed trademark attorney, Mike Kondoudis, tweeted Wednesday explaining that the applications (serial numbers: 97320155, 97320153, 97320149, 97320147, 97320146, 97320144, 97320140, and 97320136) were filed on March 18. They cover a wide range of crypto-related products and services including crypto tokens, cryptocurrencies, blockchain software, crypto exchanges, and crypto trading.<\/p>\n

Kondoudis described Meta\u2019s applications as a blueprint for how the company intends to engage in the metaverse, Bloomberg reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe goods and services of those applications extended far beyond just the run-of-the-mill NFT [non-fungible tokens] and metaverse products that a lot of applications include,\u201d the attorney was quoted as saying. He elaborated:<\/p>\n

Only a company that has this size of scale and has a hand in the evolution and development of the metaverse can possibly plan on doing everything in these applications.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A growing number of large corporations have made a similar move, including Mcdonald\u2019s, Burger King, Panera Bread, and Panda Express.<\/p>\n

Burger King filed its trademark application on the same day Meta did. According to Kondoudis, the burger chain\u2019s application covers NFTs, blockchain software, cryptocurrency trading, and virtual restaurants.<\/p>\n

Global investment bank Goldman Sachs believes that the metaverse is an $8 trillion opportunity<\/a>. Recently, megabanks JPMorgan<\/a> and HSBC<\/a> established a presence in the metaverse.<\/p>\n
