The two firms have decided to launch a bitcoin mining pool that\u2019s focused on leveraging clean energy resources. <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DMG Blockchain Solutions (TSX-V: DMGI) and Argo Blockchain Plc (LSE: ARB) have recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to establish Terra Pool. The new bitcoin mining pool aims to utilize clean energy resources and will combine both DMG\u2019s and Argo\u2019s hashrate that uses hydroelectric-power.<\/li>\n<li>In recent months, bitcoin (<a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BTC<\/a>) mining and all proof-of-work (PoW) mining, in general, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/bitcoin-energy-consumption-is-far-more-efficient-and-greener-than-todays-banking-system\/\">criticized<\/a> for how <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/btc-miner-stresses-bitcoin-is-one-of-the-most-environmentally-friendly-financial-networks\/\">energy-intensive<\/a> these networks can be. DMG\u2019s and Argo\u2019s Terra Pool plans to keep bitcoin mining climate-friendly by focusing on clean energy solutions.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDMG\u2019s increased innovative strength and continued focus on eco-friendly bitcoin mining has the opportunity to drive transformations in how the bitcoin mining community acts towards a climate-conscious future,\u201d DMG CEO Dan Reitzik said in a statement.<\/li>\n<li>The two companies also said the new eco-friendly bitcoin mining pool will work with other members of the crypto asset mining industry if the operations \u201cexpedite the shift from conventional power to clean energy.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- growjs zone placement 31 --><ins> <ins class=\"growjs-placement\"><\/ins> <\/ins> <!-- end of growjs zone placement --> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>During the last decade, bitcoin miners leveraging renewable energy to mine <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BTC<\/a> have utilized both renewable and surplus energy sources such as geothermal, wind, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/bitcoin-mining-with-solar-is-less-risky-and-more-profitable-than-selling-to-the-grid\/\">solar<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/bitcoin-going-industrial-new-york-based-natural-gas-provider-sells-fully-compliant-hashpower-contract\/\">natural gas<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/btc-miner-stresses-bitcoin-is-one-of-the-most-environmentally-friendly-financial-networks\/\">hydropower<\/a>. In more recent years, cogeneration concepts have been developed by leveraging the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/wisemining-sato-boiler-product-heat-your-home-offset-costs-mining-bitcoin\/\">excess heat<\/a> mining rigs release during use.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/charts.bitcoin.com\/btc\/chart\/hash-rate#5ma4\">Bitcoin\u2019s hashrate<\/a> captured 185 exahash per second (EH\/s) <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/btc-hashpower-bitcoin-network-185-exahash-hashrate-18400-since-2016\/\">this month<\/a> and the network difficulty is the highest it has ever been in <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BTC<\/a>\u2019s lifetime. At the time of publication, 17 publicly-known bitcoin mining pools direct hashrate at the <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/BTC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BTC<\/a> chain.<\/li>\n<li>Argo Blockchain CEO Peter Wall believes that addressing clean energy efficiency in mining is a good idea for the planet. \u201cAddressing climate change is a priority for Argo,\u201d Wall stressed. \u201cWe are hopeful other companies within the bitcoin mining industry follow in our footsteps to demonstrate broader climate consciousness,\u201d the Argo executive added.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>What do you think about DMG\u2019s and Argo\u2019s clean energy Terra Pool project?
