Alex Jones, the founder of the right-wing media group Infowars, has revealed that he has lost the laptop containing 10,000 bitcoins given to him by television personality and bitcoin proponent Max Keiser. During the Flagrant 2 show with Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh on Tuesday, he said that Keiser gave him 10K BTC<\/a> on a laptop 10 years ago.<\/p>\n

The American far-right web and radio show host is known for his imaginative conspiracy theories. He has been described by New York Magazine as \u201cAmerica\u2019s leading conspiracy theorist,\u201d and the Southern Poverty Law Center describes him as \u201cthe most prolific conspiracy theorist in contemporary America.\u201d<\/p>\n

A long-time bitcoin critic, Jones refused to warm up to cryptocurrencies until mid-February last year, when he admitted<\/a> to Keiser on-air: \u201cYou\u2019re right, I should have gotten involved in bitcoin a long time ago.\u201d At that time, Keiser predicted that the price of bitcoin would reach $400K.<\/p>\n

During Tuesday\u2019s show, Jones shared: \u201cTen years ago \u2026 Max Keiser comes to me and he says I have 10,000 bitcoins for you. This is the future. It will be the new global currency. He is on record.\u201d However, Jones claimed:<\/p>\n

I lost the laptop he put the 10,000 bitcoins on. Today, what\u2019s 10,000 bitcoins worth? A lot.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Schulz immediately helped Jones calculate how much his bitcoins would have been worth. Rounding up the price of bitcoin, he estimated that 10,000 BTC<\/a> would be worth about $500 million. \u201cYou fucking idiot. Find that laptop,\u201d Schulz said laughingly. At the request of Jones, Schulz got up and lightly slapped him twice. \u201cI deserve it,\u201d Jones exclaimed while everyone on the set laughed.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, the price of bitcoin is $56,200 and Jones\u2019 lost BTC<\/a> would have been worth more than $562 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cI swear to God this is real. I didn\u2019t know Keiser was like hooked up with Putin and the Easter Bunny,\u201d Jones further said on the show.<\/p>\n

Keiser subsequently confirmed that he did indeed give Jones a laptop containing 10K BTC<\/a>. \u201cYep. The price was under $5 at the time,\u201d he emphasized, adding that Jones\u2019 story is \u201cOne of the most startling chapters in bitcoin.\u201d Keiser then opined:<\/p>\n
